Two on each target, near to far. Reload, and repeat.

Here's the whole setup: three targets at seven yards, fifteen yards and twenty-five yards.

You can also go far to near, reload, then near to far.

On the timer, look at your draw, then your splits on each target. Quick up close, slower on the far one.

Ben Stoeger published this one. He compares those splits to see if your pace changes with distance.

Then check your hits. If the far ones are spread out, you went too fast.

I like this one because it makes you shift gears in the middle of a string.

Distances and sequence
The video follows Ben Stoeger’s published version: targets at 7, 15 and 25 yards. Two shots go to each target, near to far, then a reload and the same pass again: twelve rounds. His setup notes suggest about a yard of lateral separation as seen from the shooting position. [1] [2]
| Version | Distances | Sequence |
|---|---|---|
| Shown in the video | 7 / 15 / 25 yd | Near to far, reload, near to far |
| Stoeger’s variation | 7 / 15 / 25 yd | Far to near, reload, near to far |
Changing pace with distance
A target looks smaller as it gets farther away. Stoeger uses the Accelerator to practice changing pace between close and distant targets within the same string. [1]
He compares the shot intervals and hit placement at each distance. These show whether the pace changed on the distant target and what happened to accuracy. [1]
Comparing results
A faster run may have fewer scoring hits on the far target. Its score and shot intervals show that tradeoff. [1]
Stoeger also describes going far-to-near before the reload and near-to-far afterward. Record the order and distances with the result when using that version. [1]
