Free FFL lookup

Search 77,150 license records from the ATF's August 2026 list by name or FFL number, or browse a state and city — and read the exact ATF record, with its source. This is a records lookup, not a dealer finder: it shows what the ATF list says, not whether a place is open to the public, currently licensed, or offers any service.

Search the ATF list

Enter words or the start of words from a holder or trade name — every word must match — or the full FFL number, with or without dashes.

Pick a state or territory, then narrow to a city.

What an FFL record shows

Every result is one row from the ATF's monthly list of federal firearms licensees: the license holder's name, any trade or business name, the ATF license type, the premises address the ATF has on file, the full FFL number, and a link to the ATF source list.

“FFL verified from ATF Records” means the record appears in the dated ATF list — not proof of current license status, business identity, a public visitor location, or services; the address may be a home. The ATF list does not say whether a licensee sells to the public, keeps storefront hours, or is still in business.

To find shops, ranges, and instructors, browse the USA Arms directory.

License types in plain words

The ATF issues nine license types. These are ATF's own names; a dealer or manufacturer license is not a retail storefront.

Type 01
Dealer in firearms other than destructive devices
Type 02
Pawnbroker in firearms other than destructive devices
Type 03
Collector of curios and relics
Type 06
Manufacturer of ammunition for firearms other than ammunition for destructive devices or armor-piercing ammunition
Type 07
Manufacturer of firearms other than destructive devices
Type 08
Importer of firearms other than destructive devices
Type 09
Dealer in destructive devices
Type 10
Manufacturer of destructive devices
Type 11
Importer of destructive devices

How this differs from ATF eZ Check

ATF's FFL eZ Check uses the first three and last five digits to check supported licenses. ATF says it does not validate Type 03 (collectors of curios and relics) or Type 06 (ammunition manufacturers), and an error for either type does not mean the license is invalid. Read ATF's verification instructions.

This lookup works the other way around. Start from a name, a partial name, a place, or the full number, and read the complete ATF record the list publishes — useful when you don't already have the license number in hand.

The ATF list used here

The ATF publishes a new license list each month. This lookup reads the August 2026 list — 77,150 records. Every record shows the month it came from.
