AFMER reports production, not sales, market share or current factory locations. A and B use their explicitly selected years. National shares use the same-year accepted detail total, never the printed cover total.

Production is not sales, market share or present-day factory geography. Withheld national years cannot support a state total. Missing category cohorts are not zero; a zero comparison denominator cannot support a relative percentage.

Find a name in the filings

Search a source legal name across production years. Each result remains a separate filing and year; matching words do not establish a single company. Names and cities reflect legal entities in AFMER filings. They do not establish current company locations, ownership, employment, or sales.

Type at least two letters of a name.

Missing and withheld values are not zero. There are no reviewed profile associations, so names have no directory links.

How we calculated this

Read the national detail totals, individual filing counts, firearm categories and separately printed cover totals from the selected AFMER statistics edition. Cover totals never supply ranking denominators or fill gaps. Keep each filing and production year independent. Every year's complete filing cohort and every complete five-category mix must equal its national detail total. An incomplete mix cannot support a mix finding.

Evidence note: the separately printed 2024 cover total in ATF's Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Exportation Report is 9,474,540 firearms, differing from the retained 9,551,183 detail sum by 76,643. Rankings and shares here use the detail denominator, not the cover total.

Rank independent filings by production count, with source filing identity as the deterministic tie-breaker. The top-ten share is their sum divided by the same-year national detail total. Do not consolidate identical names or use RDS keys as organization identities.

For every accepted year, sum the complete filing cohort by reported state. Each five-category filing cohort must reconcile both with its individual filing totals and the accepted national categories before state-category values are admitted. A state with no filings contributes zero only within that complete cohort. Missing national totals and incomplete categories remain null.

State shapes use U.S. Census Bureau TIGERweb state boundaries, January 2026; simplified to 0.02 degrees for display as a cartographic background, not a source of production counts or current factory locations. Small multiples sum complete filing cohorts for the six latest-year leading states; their axes share one scale.

Compute each type share using its accepted national detail category total and the same-year national detail denominator. Keep firearms manufactured and disposed of in commerce distinct from retail purchases, sales, imports, exports and capacity.

Preserve source component totals and qualifications. A disagreement with a printed total is a qualification, not permission to substitute zero or delete a filer.

The complete CSV/JSON table includes every retained filing-year row, with five native categories pivoted into that same independent filing row, plus national detail, printed cover, national categories and separately labelled derived state-year sums. Filter by measure and year before summing: these overlapping scopes must not be added together. Source category values/statuses remain explicitly diagnostic when the accepted cohort is unavailable. Stable row links expose the exact observations used by the calculator. The page previews 100 rows; downloads retain the complete table.

The next annual edition is built only after the new ATF AFMER source release is admitted into a sealed statistics edition. Each update replaces this page and its data file.

Limits

  • National detail years 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2022 are withheld, not zero. Diagnostic component sums and separately reported cover totals do not fill those gaps. Findings omit missing inputs.
  • The selected sealed statistics edition begins in 1992. This study makes no claim about earlier production years.
  • Filings are not organizations, brands, current premises, ownership groups or market shares. No name, RDS key or filing reference is used to link a directory profile.
  • Reported premises and printed-total qualifications depend on the selected AFMER source. Source corrections enter this study only through a new sealed statistics edition, not by silently changing an older edition. One 2024 AXON filing has category components that disagree with its printed TOTAL of 0; this does not reconcile the separate cover/detail difference.
  • City names are not displayed or used as geographic joins. Source premises are not current factory locations.
  • The 50-state map excludes 7 latest-year units reported outside those states, while the national detail total retains them. It has no county drill-down: AFMER filing state does not establish a county or precise factory location.
